Facilities-Linda Palchick
Youth fall soccer is to begin on Sunday, August 19th. To date she has received the schedules for the West Geauga Soccer Club and for the West Geauga Rec Council travel teams-nothing from the local youth rec. leagues. The adult mens’ league continues to play on Sunday evenings. There is only one
remaining pavilion request at this time.
Maintenance-John Gromek
It was noted that the walking trail was in bad shape due to the torrential rains that we have had recently. A more permanent solution needs to be found other than the asphalt grindings that we presently use. They continue to wash away with a heavy rain. A discussion followed regarding asphalt path vs a chip and seal pathway; would a mesh under-layment help?? It was felt that we should try to secure the advice of a civil engineer regarding the best plan. Walt asked Greg Poe to be in charge of securing information regarding the best direction to head to permanently improve the walking path. For the present John Gromek motioned to encumber $550.00 for asphalt grindings and labor to improve the path for this year. It was seconded by Mick Benitez-Santana. Vote was taken:

Old business:
WEB site-Mick Benitez-Santana reported that he was finally able to upload all the previously approved Board meeting minutes to the site. He reminded the Board that we still need to secure a picture of the Board members for the site.
Playground- Rick Izant was absent for a report, however Walt and Ed reported that the new “timbers” had been placed. All rusted or damaged parts of the playset were removed and new parts replaced so the playset looks like new (first installed in 1998). Some Board members voiced concerns regarding the placement of some of the ”timbers” (not straight) and holes left around the timbers were not filled in as the firm had stated they would complete. We felt that this could be a safety hazard to small children. Walt will ask Rick Izant to contact Myers Design to come back to finish the job as agreed upon. It was decided to wait until spring to add sand to the playground area. For the present time Jason Abate will remove any weeds and rake the remaining sand.
Bernie Mandel stated that we (The Board) are on the agenda of the West Geauga Board of Education meeting for Monday, August 13, 2018 to request a donation for capital improvements (i.e. – playground). He has been in contact with Kathy Leavenworth to explain our need. To date Chester Township has approved up to $6,000.00 for capital improvements, depending on donations from the Board of Education and Russell Township. All of these groups appoint members to our Board.
Mick Bentez-Santana motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:52 P.M. Ed Curtis seconded. Vote was taken:
