MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING
WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT
January 8, 2020
Vice-President Bernie Mandel called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the library at West Geauga High School. Board members present – Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Bernie Mandel, Linda Palchick and Greg Poe. Jason Abate also present.
The minutes from the December meeting presented by clerk, Monica Gromek. Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes and Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
The December treasurer’s report was distributed by Treasurer Ed Curtis. The treasurer’s report showed: Ending checking balance: $24,098.80; Total disbursements: $1,025.00; Total deposits: $390.00; Encumbered funds: $0; Unencumbered funds: $44,823.58. Frank Formicelli motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes and Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
Rick Izant motioned to pay the following bills:
Monica Gromek January 2020 minutes $ 25.00
Geauga Co. Commissioner annual lease payment $ 1.00
Linda Palchick seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes and Greg, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
Ed distributed the 2019 Annual operating results.
Ed explained the report to the count – The Certificate of Total Amount from all sources for Expenditures and balances. These figures will be used for next year’s budget.
ANNUAL APPROPRIATION RESOLUTION Permanent Appropriations
The Board of Trustees of the West Geauga Joint Recreation District, Geauga County, Ohio, met in Regular Session on the 8th day of January 2020, at the West Geauga High School Library with the following members present: Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, John Gromek, Greg Poe, Bernie Mandel, Linda Palchick, Rick Izant.
John Gromek moved to adopt the following Resolution:
Geauga County, Ohio, that to provide for the current expenses and other expenditures of said Board of Trustees, during the fiscal year, ending December 31st, 2020, the following sums be and same are hereby set aside and appropriated for the several purposes for which expenditures are to be made for and during said fiscal year, as follows, viz:
That there be appropriated from the:
General Fund
1000 Maintenance $63,035.00
1001 Insurance $ 3,000.00
3000 Misc. $ 1,500.00
Grand Total General Fund $67,535.00
Capital Fund $10,000.00

Rick Izant seconded the Resolution and the roll call upon its adoption, the vote resulted as follows:

Linda Palchick – Facilities
Board discussion on needing 2 nets for junior soccer goals. Heavy duty ones on Amazon are 107.00. Linda Palchick motioned to encumber $250.00 to purchase 2 nets for this season. John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
Linda has received 2 requests for the Pavilion. Not dates for soccer games yet. Both fields are open in 2020.
Jason Abate – Cleanup on the trails was done the Friday after Christmas. Junior field and baseball diamond grass cut. All fields were aerated. Still lots of branches down in the park. The trail is not frozen. Lots of mud.
Next meeting February 12, 2020 at the library of WG High School.
