MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

NOVEMBER 17, 2020

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at the Chester Town Hall meeting room.  Board members present – Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Bernie Mandel, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe and Sara Sustin. 

The minutes from the October meeting presented by clerk, Monica Gromek.  Ed Curtis motioned to accept the minutes.  Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Sara, yes. All in favor, motion carried. 

The October treasurer’s report was distributed by Treasurer Ed Curtis. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $28,986.08; Total disbursements: $1,026.59; Total deposits: $41.39; Encumbered funds: $5,045.00; Unencumbered funds: $44,668.81.  Bernie Mandel motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; Frank Formicelli motioned to accept the treasurer’s report.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Sara, yes. All in favor, motion carried. 

Linda Palchick motioned the following bills be paid:                                                                             Monica Gromek                November 2020 minutes                     $   25.00                                   

Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken:  Ed, yes; Frank, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Bernie, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Sara, yes. All in favor, motion carried. 

Linda Palchick – Facilities                                                                                                                 Fields are closed.  Nets are down.

John Gromek – Maintenance                                                                                                                      Jason Abate reported lots of damage done at the park with the recent windy snowstorm last week.  Funds will need to be encumbered; estimate to be given from Abate Landscaping.

Jason will complete the trail relocation project this next month.

Old Business                                                                                                                                    John Gromek reported on the sanitation stations information.  He contacted Chagrin Falls Service Department.  The stations were made with PVC pipe banded to the poles (to deter stealing them).  They were made by the Chagrin Falls service dept.  They have 5-gallon buckets of sanitizer, then they can then fill each bottle; a 1 oz. squirt is given.  

Sarah Sustin met with Marvin Yoder about the new signage board at the Park. He will look at the present board at the park; then give us a quote to build.  Sarah has several sign designs.

Rick Izant asked if we could check on the trail sign project by the Eagle Scout.  A consistent pattern is needed to renew the tree signs also.  Geauga Park District have consistent signage in their parks. Sarah Sustin will research signs on Bell Rd. with costs.

New Business                                                                                                                            Ed Curtis discussed that our Maintenance Contract needs tweeking and needs to be reviewed every 2 years.  A legal notice is advertised in the Chesterland News, Chagrin Valley Times, and the News Herald. He will email the board members the Maintenance Contract for our review for the December 15 board meeting. 

Conversations concerning an internet Zoom meeting for our upcoming meetings due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Bills and meeting minutes would need to be signed. Frank Formicelli will check with his employment company; they have a Zoom account.
