MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

October 19, 2021

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at West Geauga Library Gilson Room. Board members present –Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick. Greg Poe, Rick Izant and Bernie Mandel by phone. Jason Abate also present.

The minutes from the September meeting presented. John Gromek motioned to accept the minutes. Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken. Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Bernie, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

The September treasurer’s report was distributed by Treasurer Ed Curtis. The treasurer’s report showed: Ending checking balance: $32,582.41; Total disbursements: $9,212.92; Total deposits: $4.101.69; Encumbered funds: $3,500.00; Unencumbered funds: $50,312.06. Linda Palchick motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken. Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Bernie, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Linda Palchick motioned the following bills be paid Monica Gromek October minutes $ 25.00

Rick Izant seconded. Vote was taken. Ed, yes; John, yes; Rick, yes; Linda, yes; Greg, yes; Bernie, yes. All in favor, motion carried.

Facilities – Linda Palchick Linda will send a bill to Mike (Rec Council) for the Soccer Tournament and for season games played. Jason Abate can take down the soccer nets; the season is done.

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate The parking lot has been striped. Leaves have been blown; Aeration of fields will be done; then fertilization. The goal areas will be fixed. Cherry tree cut down. Big branch hanging over the drive has been removed. There are a lot of dead trees at the park.

Rick Izant will contact Chris Meyers to discuss ADA requirements if something is removed from our playground, should the replacement ADA compliant. John Gromek will visit Playground World to also present ADA playground requirements.

Old Business – Eagle Scout Ryan will complete his sign project in October. A car went into the ditch along Rt. 306, crushing a part of the galvanized pipe. Was an accident report on file in Russell Township. Jason will pry open the pipe so water can continue to flow.

LEVY – Promotion is needed for our Park Levy on the November 2022 ballot. Bernie Mandel offered to undertake this project and will confer with Linda Palchick for information advertising our park and its amenities. The Newbury District is now part of the West Geauga School District.

Next meeting Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 7:00 pm in the Gilson Room of the West Geauga Library.
