MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

November 15, 2022

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm at West Geauga Library. Board members present – Ed Curtis, John Gromek, Rick Izant, Linda Palchick, Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin. Jason Abate was also present.

The minutes from the October meeting presented from Monica Gromek. Rick Izant motioned to accept the minutes. Sara Sustin seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; John Gromek, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Sara Sustin, yes.

Treasurer Ed Curtis distributed the October treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report showed:  Ending checking balance: $43,176.62; Total disbursements: $4,210.98; savings account ending balance $21,721.11. Total deposits: $3.89; Encumbered funds: $4,425.00; Unencumbered funds: $60,472.73. Rick Izant motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; John Gromek, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Sara Sustin, yes.

Linda Palchick motioned the following bill be paid:   Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken – Ed Curtis, yes; John Gromek, yes; Rick Izant, yes; Linda Palchick, yes; Greg Poe, yes; Sara Sustin, yes.

Facilities – Linda Palchick

All nets are down.  Fields closed for the season.

Maintenance – John Gromek and Jason Abate

Jason Abate reports all fields have been aerated and fertilized.  The snowplow stakes have been put up. Question?  Did Steigerwald clean out the septic?  Jason Abate will contact Steigerwald now.

CONGRATULATIONS TO RICK IZANT AND THE BOARD: Our 5 yr. tax levy which was on this past election’s ballot PASSED.  The Board would like a breakdown from the Board of Elections of the total election vote count per township.  Rick Izant will contact them for this information. Now that Newbury is in our school district, how did that affect the vote.  Linda Palchick has placed a thank you note in the Chesterland News to thank the residents for voting to pass our levy.

Linda Palchick said the memorial sign for Pat Jasko has been ordered. 

Board discussion on obtaining information to install a Pickleball Court at The Commons.  There will be a court installed at Parkside Park in Chesterland.  Jason Abate and John Gromek will get information from Mark Purchase. 

Next meeting is December 20, 2022.

MINUTES FROM THE SPECIAL MEETING

WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT

November 21, 2022

President Greg Poe called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm via zoom. Board members present – Ed Curtis, Frank Formicelli, Rick Izant, Evan Byrum. Greg Poe, and Sara Sustin.

The purpose of the meeting was to approve the resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission for the year 2023 as result of our election results.

The attached resolution was read by Ed Curtis. The resolution was approved and the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.
