Facilities:

Linda Palchick gave her report regarding facilities.  Season for soccer fields closed the first of November and the nets were removed then.  The pavilion request for a graduation party in June is the only one still pending.  I have checked with the Russell police chief, per the Board request, regarding the need for an off duty officer to be hired since the proposed guest list was  to be so large (250).  He said it would not be necessary, since there would not be as many people coming at once as are with the Rec. tournament.  He, however says that he will have an officer make frequent “drive throughs” to make sure there were no problems.  Steve DiFranco did get back to me regarding the tent size.  He said the plan was only to get it if the weather was “bad”.  I said that we must know the size in advance, prior to permit approval, since we would not wait until a few days before depending on the weather report.  If needed he said the size planned would be 20x30 feet.  Discussion followed with the Board giving approval if the previous stipulations were agreed upon by Mr. DiFranco and a deposit was submitted.

Maintenance:

Jason Abate gave an overview of the maintenance at the Commons in the absence of Frank Formicelli.  Jason noted that the volleyball  posts need to be replaced.  He also would suggest getting rid of the judge’s box since the field is used for recreation only now.  Linda Palchick asked if there was a need to replace any of the nets on the soccer fields.  Jason said there was no need but he will monitor and let the Board know if things change.  He also needed that the Soccer Club had not removed their nets on the goals on the lower field.

Old business:

WEB site-No report in the absence of Frank Formicelli.

New business:

Ed Curtis noted the calendar of our meeting dates is up on our WEB site and the monthly meeting agendas will be up the week before all meetings.                                                                            Kristen Foerster said that she was approached by a Board of Education member regarding adding a  member from Newbury to our Board.  It was noted that we had approached that idea over a year ago and no one was interested.  Per our charter, (3 from Russell, 3 from Chester and 3 from Board of Education) any member had be nominated by the Board of Education to fill one of their slots and at present all positions there are filled.  We can try again if a position becomes vacant in the future.

Next meeting will be held on January 21, 2025 in the West Geauga High School Library at 7:00 P.M.  Chris Domonkos motioned for meeting adjournment at 7:38 P.M.  Rick Izant seconded.  Vote was taken-Evan Byrum-yes; Ed Curtis-yes; Chris Domonkos-yes; Kristen Foerster-yes; Rick Izant-yes; Linda Palchick-yes; Greg Poe-yes.  All in favor, motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,
